We Don't Give a Damn for the Whole State of Michigan: Ohio State Marching Band

One of my favorite Ohio State songs is “We Don't Give a Damn for the Whole State of Michigan.” The song is played by the Ohio State Marching Band. Every year the Michigan vs. Ohio State football game is a huge deal. The song truly shows the rivalry that the two teams have for each other. The song is upbeat and exciting. Every time I hear it I get pumped up for the game. Even though the overall record is in Michigan’s favor (57-42-6), Ohio State has owned Michigan the last 5 games. As the song reads, “We don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan, we're from Ohio” shows that true Ohio State fans hate Michigan. With both teams having above average years, this year’s game should be full of excitement. I can’t wait.

    Well at least we've won the past 5 years. I love how everyone always sings this song on the way out of the stadium even though we havent even played michigan yet.

    I first heard this song walking out of the Horseshoe for the Osu vs. Michigan game. I was really young and I thought I was so cool because my parents let me say "damn" when I sang the song

    I think my favorite part about Ohio State is how much school spirit there is. My high school isn't very good at football so there is like no school spirit. I get so excited whenever people sing this song leaving the game, because it's true Buckeye Pride.

    Good song. I think this song sums up the school spirit here at OSU very well, and let's be honest, not too many schools compete with our spirit. I like how you point out that the sound is "upbeat and exciting," because no matter where you hear it, at the game or at a bar, the song excites every one who hears it.

    I always get a "rush" when I hear this song! For some reason I always get a feeling of pride too!

    There is no denying that this song gets people pumped up during michigan weekend. It is very catchy and the OSU band plays it better than anyone. At my high school, we had a lot of school spirit as well so it was nice to go to a college that takes it to a whole new level!

    This song makes me laugh every time I here it. Even though I'm from the Columbus area I think the hatred for Michigan is awesome on the field but people carry it off the field a lot on campus.

    I just realized how much you people from Ohio hate Michigan over the past few days. I joked about something Michigan related and got kicked out of a few rooms, cursed at, and grappled mere seconds after finishing the joke.

    I won't joke about Michigan again...but do you guys really beat up people who wear Michigan clothing around campus? I've heard stories...

    Since I'm not from Ohio, I dont really feel the same passion and hate towards Michigan. I do love osu but I <3 NY.
