Battlestar Galactica
So after watching this episode I was really confused what was all going on, since I have never seen Battlestar Galactica. So I figured that writing this blog would be kind of hard. But then I thought about just writing about some of the small things that happened during the episode. Such as when the girl snapped the baby head and kills the baby. It reminded me of abortion and how big of an issue that it is right now. Being from a small town this is an extremely touchy subject. Every year we have a bus that takes some students from our high school to Washington DC to march. I believe that abortion is wrong, but can be used to certain situations. One situation in which I think that abortion is acceptable is when a girl gets rapped. I believe that it isn’t the girls fault at all and if she doesn’t want to have the baby then she shouldn’t have to. BUT, I would strongly recommend her going threw with it and giving it up for adoption. All in all I believe that what the girl did in the episode is horrible. I try to put myself in her situation and think to myself “…is there any possible way that I could do what she did.” My answer was easy and simple, no. I could never bring myself to do what she did. I think that there is no reason in this world to kill anyone, let alone a baby. When I saw her do it, it made me sick to my stomach and made me feel sorry for anyone that has to have that on the conscience the rest of their life.

I like your approach to this sensitive issue. I do wonder if that scene was some sort of commentary on abortion. Regardless, I was in shock when I realized what that women had just done.
ReplyDeleteWe had a bus-full of people go to Washington D.C from my high school as well. I heard it is pretty intense protesting
ReplyDeleteI understand you're points on abortion, they seem well thought-out and legitimate. Personally, I am pro-choice.
ReplyDeleteAnd no, I don't want to murder babies and would encourage my friends against it if they were in that situation.
I just do not think that it is the government's right to tell a woman what to choose, I think that it infringes on her Civil Liberties.
I agree with you, abortion is completely unacceptable except (maybe) in the case of an abortion. Some girls just freak when they find out that they're pregnant and they don't know what to do. They only tell their boyfriends and later end up giving birth on their prom nights, throwing the baby away, and going back without telling anybody what happened. The mother's might as well have gotten an abortion if they weren't going to do the right things and put the baby up for adoption.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the abortion issue. However, the strange thing is that in China, girls can have abortion easily. Boys can avoid the responsibilities and the bad consequences. I don't like the situation.
