CP Problem

The main problem that I am having is the intro/conlution. I am writing about how a disagree with the blank slate philosophy and am not really sure how to "grab" the readers attention. I start with explain the blank slate philosophy "The blank slate theorem states that individuals are born without built-in mental content and that their knowledge comes from experience and perception. " and when and where it came from. But I feel like that is kind of boring and that no what really cares about it. I'm trying to make it more interesting and trying to relate it more to my audience. Just not really sure how to do it yet.

  1. Maybe try starting off with a rhetorical question. Since this is an informal paper, it could be useful in grabbing the reader's attention.

  2. Actually I think Mike hit the nail on the head, use some rhetoric, bro. Don't start out coming straight on with the info, have a little fun with it, do whatever you have to do to get the reader interested in the beginning, because that makes them wanna stick around for the rest.

  3. Also, you could give an example of a(n) person/organism to which the blank slate theorm applies. By relating the theorm to something tangible and comprehendable to the readers, I think you will really grab their attention.

  4. If you really want to grab the readers attention I would give a very broad, interesting, and grabbing fact about the blank slate theorem. Try to think about what made you interested in the topic and apply that.

  5. One of the things you can do to find that right intro is to write down some questions about your topic and what you are relating it to. It will help you expand your ideas and then you can gather what you have and put it all together. Once you have your intro, the conclusion can definitely relate to what you talked about in the beginning.
